Service Description
Advanced Defensive Handguns is a fast paced, one (1) day, perpetual hot range environment, simulating your everyday defensive carry scenarios. The objective of this course is to enhance the abilities and knowledge necessary to confidently defend yourself and/or others who are in immediate danger of loss of life at the hands of an assailant. This course will provide you with the opportunity to assess your preparedness, situational awareness, decision-making and ability to stop a life-threatening situation. Prerequisites: Have completed the Defensive Handgun Skills Assessment, with at least 70%; 25 shots from 3 yds – 15 yds, from concealment, within time limitations Weapon manipulation – Clearing malfunctions and doing reloads within time limitations Having a CCW is highly recommended, but not required. Applicants for this course must show proof of having completed a Basic Defensive Handgun course where they have demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with: The 4 Universal rules of gun safety, loading and unloading a handgun, safe presentation from concealment, sight alignment/sight picture/trigger control, clearing malfunctions, tactical/emergency reloads, after-action drills, when to/not to shoot, and Missouri Law regarding lethal force. For those who have not taken the GGF Basic Defensive HG course, but believe they are qualified for this course, a demonstration of your preparedness for the advanced defensive course will be required ahead of the scheduled class for a nominal fee ($15). The Program: Over course of 9 hours the participants will experience: Difference between sport shooting and defensive shooting Improving speed and accuracy The law Movement in a crowd (Sul) Combat Mindset Close contact Shooting Firing on multiple adversaries Firing while being Mobile - Turning L/R/about face toward and adversary One handed shooting – Firing/Support side Tactical & Emergency Reloads during a defensive encounter One handed magazine changes Defending through physiological impairment Distance shooting Law Enforcement and the defensive shooter – a team Aftermath of a defensive shooting The course includes scenario training on the premier “MILO”, (Multiple Interactive Learning Objectives) simulator to replicate defending yourself during everyday activities (home, shopping, work, out dining, etc. Contact us today with any questions or for more information.
